Possobilities Raise Hundreds for Cystic Fibrosis TrustPosted on July 12th, 2017 in Possobilities News
Julie from Cystic Fibrosis Trust was our guest at Possobilities in Possilpark today (Wednesday 12th July) and collected a cheque for £378 from members, volunteers, and staff at the centre.
Possobilities and Cook ‘n’ Care driver Alex Milne presented the money, raised through our Celtic raffle last year where a lucky winner took home a signed Bhoys shirt and tickets for the Parkhead club’s Champions League campaign.
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic condition affecting more than 10,800 people in the UK. People are born with cystic fibrosis and cannot catch it later in life, but one in 25 people carries the faulty gene that causes it, usually without even knowing.
The gene affected by CF controls the movement of salt and water in and out of cells. People with cystic fibrosis experience a build-up of thick sticky mucus in the lungs, digestive system and other organs, causing a wide range of challenging symptoms which affect the entire body. To find out more about the condition you can take a look at Cystic Fibrosis Trust’s interactive body.
